Purple was always a color that sparked nostalgia to me. This was the mood I was feeling when I captured this photo. I helped get the nostalgic mood through using a purple LED light that I placed faced up towards Laura’s face. I found the color contrast between her hair and body visually interesting. I wanted the purple lighting to really lit up her face so I turned off all the lights in the room. This made the picture have a grainy effect which I liked because of the connection it had with the mood I was feeling – old nostalgic photos used to be grainy due to using film.
