Ever since I heard the term “Tree of Life”, I resonate New Beginnings with trees. One of the most ‘New Beginnings’ in my life was when I moved to the United States at the age of 7 from Tokyo, not knowing how to speak or understand English at all. I did not know what to expect in the new environment I was living in and going to school at. Because of this uncertain feeling, I took this picture in black and white to illustrate the unknown of what could happen in the future. To me, it feels like an unpredictable experience waiting to happen and when it did happen, I could go back and see it in color to remind myself that certain chapter of my life.
