introduction

In this project we were instructed to create a design for a product. I chose wine and wanted to design a wine bottle logo. This was a really fun project creating something that was a real life project.

products

This was my final label for my wine glass. I designed it in illustrator.

I took my product logo that I designed and used place it to put it on different products. I chose a wine glass, wine bottle and tote bag. It was difficult to get the dimensions right and I had to do a lot of trial and error. I then took each image and put it into photoshop to create a triptych. I had to make each image the same height to make it uniform.

world building

In english we came into groups to create a narrative story. We then took this idea and put it into design class. We designed a book cover and a movie poster that related to our story. This was my inspiration for my book cover.

movie poster

mood board

This is what I wanted my movie poster to look like at the beginning. As you’ll see I strayed from that a lot other than the color scheme.

final

In English class we explored world building and created a story: Alex Muller, a successful but arrogant man, strives to distance himself from his father’s criminal past. He neglects his depressed mother and disregards a homeless woman daily. At work, he belittles his female colleagues, particularly Lucy Nyguen, confident in his eventual inheritance of the family business. However, his world is disrupted when women suddenly dominate his surroundings, and he faces disrespect and confusion. Alex’s reality further unravels as he encounters bizarre changes: his wife, Mia, works, strangers behave oddly, and women outnumber men. Feeling marginalized and disoriented, he confronts Mia, who remains cryptic. He struggles with newfound independence and societal challenges, including ridicule from coworkers. Alex’s frustration intensifies as Mia continues her enigmatic behavior. He explores cooking, finding solace and purpose. Reflecting on his past actions, he reaches out to the homeless woman, signaling a potential shift in his perspective and priorities. We then took our story concept in Design class and created a movie poster. In the beginning I struggled with how to create a poster that reflected my story. I had an idea to put women in suits on the front and behind them stood a man but I changed my mind and wanted to do something a bit more abstract. I scrolled through Pexels which is a free image site and stumbled upon an image of a moving train. I loved this image because it reflected the ending in my story where the main character goes to the subway station and gives the meal he cooked to the homeless woman. It shows his character growth and how he can lend a hand to people in need. I took it into photoshop and changed the colors to be cooler tones that match my book jacket. In the photo there were signs and people that did not match my story. I blurred them and took other photos from pexels to cover them up. I think I did a good job of blending the two images together to make it seamless. I then created an InDesign document to create my QR code that leads to my Freestyle website.
