Introduction
In this project, we explore creative risk-taking through poetry, music, art, animation, experimental film, and web production, pushing us to express our ideas in a unique and personal way. We also build technical communication skills by working with a range of professional tools and software, including DSLR cameras, Tascam audio recorders, and programs like Adobe Photoshop, Animate, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.
My first quarter at Freestyle was a bit slow at first. I wasn’t sure if I’d really enjoy it, but after the conceptual unit in Digital Media and English, it quickly became clear that Freestyle was the right choice for me. I enjoyed the conceptual unit, and knowing that this unit is only the beginning, it makes me excited for what’s to come next.
During my first quarter as a Freestyle student, I was amazed by all of the opportunities given to us as students. We are given materials like DSLR cameras, professional editing software, and and endless amount of creative tools for creating things like music, photos, film, digital creations, and a whole lot more. This is what surprised me the most because I have never seen a program like Freestyle. My favorite part about freestyle is the community that slowly builds over time. I have noticed that there aren’t single groups, everyone at freestyle is friends with each other.
