Color without Color

70mm, f/2.8, 160ISO, 320ss

I took this photo in San Francisco, it was really hot and sunny and also pretty humid deep in San Francisco’s China Town. The red colors were vibrant and contrasting to the dull colors of the majority of San Francisco. I really like how the composition turned out. It may be bias but I can see the color despite the photo being black and white, this is really cool to me because its like those color assimilation grid illusion’s.

Friends and Family

50mm, f/5.6, 160ISO, 320ss

I took this photo in LA with my dad, this photo reminds me of my two brothers whom I used to play with on the beaches in Australia. This is exactly what we would do, dig holes and rivers to fill up our holes with water.

Your Culture

50mm, f/5.6, 160ISO, 320ss

I took this photo in Monterey which reminded me of my culture in Australia as this is a bird that looks common to a lot of birds found in Australia. The water reflecting is a childhood memory of mine, and I can connect it with my culture as an Australian.

Flowers

50mm, ISO 100, f2.8, 1/250s

I took this photo in my backyard, my family recently moved house and the owners of the house we are renting are landscapers and have really beautiful plants and the garden is very green and I wanted to take a photo of this plant before the owners removed it because it was overgrowing.

Stranger

50mm, ISO 400, f22, 1/250s

I took this photo in Santa Cruz in the same place I took the photo for my Serenity blog. I came back to the same place with my family because there is a restaurant and it was the only place open, and I noticed someone coming back with a net full of fish on a little boat with his dog, it was really cool to see something like this because it was something straight out of a movie with the dog perched on the front of the boat. I wish I was a bit higher up because the dogs head is cut off a bit because it blends into the background instead of being isolated in the reflections of the water.

Shadow

50mm, 400 ISO, f4, 1/250s

I took this photo for one of my assignments but also I wanted to use the photo blog idea to implement some leading shadows into my photo, I think I did a pretty good job at keeping the lower portion of the shadow sharp but I should have used a brighter light.

Speedlight Photography

This photo I took of one of my friends, it was the first time I used a speed light and I feel like I could have done a better job. I think the shadows are too harsh and I need to reposition the light or stand further away. Overall a good learning experience.

Sunsets

33.3mm, ISO 8000, f3.8, 1/1000s

I chose this image for my sunset image because it shows a parking lot full of cars during a sunset. Though I have many sunset photos I chose this one because it is more dull and not as vibrant as the others which to me made it stand out.

Self-Portrait

75mm, ISO 2500, f10, 1/2000s

This photo relates to the photo blog self portrait because it is a photo of me walking on a beach in Santa Cruz. My face isn’t visible which I think made the photo much more interesting since it was mysterious in a way. I took the photo using a remote connected to my phone which made it way easier to achieve this since I didn’t have to set a timer for the photo.
