About Me

I am a senior second-year animation student at Freestyle Academy. One of the things I value the most in the world is looking up to other people. Some of the people I look up to are my sister (Julie) and a few 11 year olds.

Outside of school, I volunteer to coach at a recreational volleyball club. I compete in Science Olympiad, doing the events Dynamic Planet, Fossils, and Experimental Design. I also participate in Girls Scouts as I have since kindergarten. Some of my passions include crocheting, drawing birds, hiking, and photography.

I expect to learn a lot of new things this school year. I expect to gain more knowledge about the subjects I take at Mountain View High School, all the while learning new things at Freestyle Academy.

Art Reflection

Process and Purpose

For this assignment, I had to write a reflection on an art piece in the SFMOMA. The hardest part was keeping it short. I made multiple longer drafts, but had to work on shortening it for the final draft. Additionally, we had to express how we felt awe in the piece. At first, this was hard because I didn’t feel what I had known as awe at first. I normally associated awe with beautiful scenes and heroic acts, but I learn that I could also feel awe in a bad way. I choose this piece because it spoke out to me the most, not because of its beauty, so I decided on a definition of awe by how the muddled colors made me feel a sense of fear.

For Digital Media, we had to learn how to use After Effects. I was a really intimidating task at first to make something from scratch, but I realized after starting that it was similar to creating a project in Premier Pro, but it gave me more freedom, because there is so much more you can do with the text and transitions in the program. It was actually really fun deciding the keyframes for when words would come in, how the background would move, and what transitions I would use to bring in the words. The one thing that I found different was the lack of possible audio editing in the program. I couldn’t normalize, split clips conveniently, or record audio into the composition, so I had to record the audio in Adobe Audition in the recording booth and add it into the composition in After effects.
