Documentary

One of the pivotal projects I created during my time at Freestyle would have to be the documentary. This documentary proved to be extremely challenging for me. It was a project which i had to rely largely on myself, and be very forward in outreaching other people. Furthermore it was the first “full length” animation project I had completed by myself. It was extremely difficult trying to set myself to a good work pace, and getting used to employing the animation principals. Furthermore, I should to stroboscope the animation.  This means that while other animators were able to freeze the frame or hold still visuals to take up time, I had to redraw every single frame for the most part. While challenging, I am glad i was able to complete the project. Of course there are things that I would like to change, fix, or get rid off, I think overall it was a good attempt for a first try.

For the project, I had to be extremely careful in handling everything I was doing. Because the focal topic of what I was doing was a very emotional, touch subject I knew I had to put care into every step I was taking. Furthermore I had to ensure that my interviewee’s message was portrayed as she wished. Dim, yet hopeful. This lead to my darker muted color pallet.

3d ENVIRONMENTAL modeling

Many may have thought that I would mention my zenith as one of the more pivotal projects, however due to the certain worldwide circumstances I am technically still working on it.  This I would say one of another important project I completed during my time at Freestyle was the 3d  environmental modeling project. I had a huge struggle in learning 3d modeling. Even today there are things that I can seem to wrap my head around, and the learning curve seemed so steep. Modeling the room taught me a lot about patience and problem solving. Out off all the skills I have learned at Freestyle, I think that my ability to 3d model will be a very unique skill I will carry with my in my future choice of career.

Looking back on the room I made, I am fairly proud of how it turned out given how much time, effort, and hardship went into it.

Final Remarks

I am really grateful for my time at Freestyle. I think I met very talented people who were able to help me grow as an artist. I also learned many practical artistic skills which I plan to utilize in the future. While I very much look forward to go to college and learn even more, I will definitely miss the Freestyle environment and teachers. I hope that the next generations of students will come to appreciate the art program as much as I did, and really utilize the wonderful opportunity and resources they were given. I have great confidence that the teachers of Freestyle will continue to foster the development of bright individuals. In 5 years come, I do not know where I see myself, thought I know my time and experiences at Freestyle will continue to be a large part of my past memories.
