For the reflections unit we were given the task to create a video essay in film. I was extremely excited about this idea because I really appreciate video essay’s and how empowering it is to creatively show yourself through audio and film. Going into the video essay I wasn’t sure how I would convey me in a video essay. I was brainstorming many random things about myself and in the end I went outside for some fresh air and then boom! I saw my 1971 VW bus right in front of me. I instantly knew that’s what I want to do my video essay on. I used my bus as a sort of metaphor for me and I included how driving my bus brings me tranquility. I really enjoyed making this project and being able to have complete freedom on what I wanted to do. I talked about the feeling I have driving my bus of just living in the moment and enjoying life. I don’t worry about the other distractions of life bringing me down, I focus on the present as I look out my window into the sun and feel at peace.
