Photo Narrative

I took the pictures for my narrative diptych and then used Photoshop to edit them, they also reflect my charater in my short story. Click on the image to see a bigger version.

The first picture is of a group of flowers, one that has withered. Like my character Eliza, it is not taken care of. In Eliza’s case she has not been a very responsible person. By brushing things off and not reaching towards any goals she digs herself into hole. Eliza doesn’t worry about anything and it slowly begins to take its toll. She watches other people bloom, like the flowers, but she stays the same.
Eliza is displayed in the second picture while being yelled at by her son and trying to make dinner. The light is focused on her, similar to how the light is focused on the flower in the first picture. The lack of care for herself has caught up and now she cannot manage what is thrown at her. Before Eliza had no worries, now they consume her. Now that it’s affecting her directly she feels defeated and is not sure how to react to the situation.
