Narrative 2

Visual Perspective in English

The World Building Essay

During English class we were prompted to create an essay based off of the World we had created during the World Building Unit. My group which consisted of Paige, Taylor and I, created a world that centered around water contamination.

Water contamination is unfortunately a lot more common than you think. Typically in smaller towns in which the government has neglected to upgrade things like water pipes. Therefore water pipes can still be made of lead. In places like Flint Michigan and Jackson Mississippi this was the case.

Narrative Treatment

Before we were able to work on the essay based off of real events, we had to write a Narrative Treatment that explained our world, who was in our world, the conflicts of our world, and our basic story.

Our idea was to represent how teens can struggle to have their voices heard in an adult driven world. We wanted to show how politics can divide people and how certain political opinions can cause more harm than good.

Worldbuilding Pitch Presentation

Our very final step was to explain our research. We had to present a presentation created on Adobe Express to all the other seniors in AM. We explained first what our story/world was about. Then we introduced our characters, in our case; the class of teens. Following that we explained our plot line, consisting of setting, conflict, climax and resolution which was optional.

The experience of “pitching” our ideas to a group of movie producers (the rest of the seniors plus Mr. Greco and Mr. Flo) was very exciting. We had to dress up in business casual and we even created AI generated images of what our characters could look like. Although this project was extremely lengthy and stressful, the final outcome was fun.

Visual Perspective in Digital Media

Movie Poster

Our first prompt in Digital Media related to world building was to create a movie like poster for our world. I decided to go for something a little more dark.

Not only because it is a dark subject but its also easier for things to blend, so yes I was making it easier for myself.

Stacked Wood Art

For this project we were instructed to to use Adobe Illustrator to create a plan for a multi-layer art piece. This art piece was supposed to relate to our World Building conflict.

I decided to create a pipe layout, and although I definitely wish I could have done something more complicated, I am happy with how it turned out.

Visual Perspective in Animation

Character Creation

Within Animation this project was some what separate from our World Building project. We used Maya and Z Brush to create our first models of original 3D Characters

Although looking back at it now I know I can do much better knowing what I know today, I am proud of how my first model turned out.

Walk, Run and Jump Sequence

This was the more challenging part as we learned how to rig and animate our characters.

Having to redistribute the paint weights as well as Maya crashing numerous times made this project extremely difficult, but I love how it turned out.

Lip Sync

This was even more challenging than the walk, run and jump sequences because of how much detail I had to pay attention to.

I know I did decent for my first attempt at lip syncing but I wish I re-did it.
