From top to bottom, the flash changed positions in each photo. In the top photo, the flash was pointed directly at the subject. In the second photo, the flash was pointed at the ceiling. Both the third and fourth photos have the flash pointing towards the ceiling, but the third also had a white card reflecting the flash, while the fourth had a light diffuser over the flash to even out the light.
