anonymous

a photo of a man standing on a train platform as a train goes by, wearing a long coat and a hat.
1/80 f8 ISO1000

This week’s prompt for the inspiration category was “anonymous”. We were told to interpret this however we wanted. This is another photo I took when I was in Japan. I saw this man at the train station and thought he had a lot of character – he looked very mysterious in all black, a long coat, and a hat, almost like a detective from a movie. There was also some very bright and harsh lighting that created for interesting shadows. In order to bring out the man more I played around with the contrast and exposure. I ended up blurring the background and the edges of the man a bit as well as I think it makes him feel less solid, and more mysterious (or, “anonymous”).

white balance

November 20, 2022May 31, 2024

For this week’s photo, we were supposed to creatively use white balance to take a photo that’s not color accurate. I thought it would be cool to make the light from a candle look very vibrant and red. I lit this candle on my desk, because I loved the way…
