This week’s prompt was “love story”! I had a lot of fun trying to come up with a concept that could symbolize a love story without actually finding any people to photograph. I ultimately chose to photograph two flowers together in a vase, as flowers often symbolize love. These two flowers with their stems somewhat intertwined also can represent two people. This idea was somewhat inspired from the animatic “You Took Away My Friend” by Miki M.H. on Youtube.
To take this photo, I filled one of my jars with water and picked two flowers that fit well together. I waited until night to take it so that I could get a bright contrast between a dark background and the flowers. I really like how the color composition turned out because of this! I also purposely used a high ISO to make the photo appear grainy. The aesthetic of old looking grainy photos is one I really love, and it also adds to the mystery of the love story.
