About this podcast

This week, World Wide Wonders invites you to explore the North American forests – everything that you will find, everything that will find you, and everything that will always hide just out of sight.

Podcaster Bio

I am currently a senior at Mountain View High School and a second year Freestyle Film student. I enjoy stories, in both creation and consumption. Some of my favorite niche genres include found family in space, existential horror, and dragons.

Introduction Section

Podcasts are a relatively simple, accessible, and versatile form of media. This makes them ideal for amateurs looking to spread ideas and tell stories. Based on my interest in existential horror, it should come as no surprise that I listen to podcasts like Welcome to Night Vale, The Magnus Archives, and Hello from the Hallowoods. They all have a captivating approach to horror that thrives in an audio-exclusive medium.

Reflection

One of the most difficult parts of making a podcast is getting used to an audio medium. Sight is perhaps the most important sense. In a podcast, where there are no visuals, you must be able to provide ample description to allow the audience to follow along. But it’s a balance. Over describing could make the podcast too complicated and jumbled. It helps to think of the way people naturally talk, all the things they say directly, and all the things they say indirectly.
