Film Noir

Cabin Christmas Tree

Following the prompt of film noir, I edited this photo in Photoshop to make it black and white. I think it works because of the contrast between the dark areas and the light from the window reflecting onto the tree.

Storms

Rainbow

Rather than a picture of a storm, this captures the aftermath. It’s is not even after a real storm but instead, after a very light rain (a “California Storm”). Here, rain is always exciting. I like the colors in this photo as well as how the sky becomes bluer higher up in the frame, transitioning from grey to blue.

Culture

My Family at a Lake

My culture is a mix of quite a few cultures –– mostly from my dad’s side of the family. Each one of us is very similar but also very different at the same time. This photo is from a recent trip up to our cabin near Arnold. It was the first time we’ve all been together in a long time and it was definitely a little chaotic (as it always is). I think this picture represents a little bit of the chaos but also a special moment –– and I think that represents my culture well.

Aging

Redwood Trees

The prompt for this week’s photo blog was aging. I took this photo on a hike at Big Trees State Park––It amazes me to think about how long these trees have lived.

Shadow Tells a story

Shadow of a Plant

This week’s prompt was to take a compelling photograph of a shadow. This is a shadow of a plant in my kitchen. For those walking past my house, its silhouette in the window appears monstrous. Its shadow appears more soft and intriguing.

Hometown

View of Street

This week’s prompt was to take a picture telling a story of our hometown. I’ve lived in Los Altos most of my life, so I’ve walked up and down my street countless times. This picture was taken on my way home from school one day. As I was walking, I was looking around and saw this rainbow. This picture shows something special in an otherwise mundane place.

Love Story

A picture of the sky.
Sky

This week’s prompt was to tell a love story through a photograph. I’ve always loved the time of day when you can see the moon; even though it’s still light out. Although this photograph doesn’t represent a traditional love story, I feel like so many love stories start with the sky.
