Narrative

This year was the first time I ever used illustrator. And I think it’s a really cool software Overall. Still I would prefer Photoshop to create illustrations. A lot of people would get confused of the difference between illustrator and Photoshop. And let me tell you this. BIG DIFFERENCE. If you didn’t know the biggest difference with these two software is that Photoshop handles pixels. Illustrator uses vetor points. Why does this separate the two from each other. Well when you resize an image in Photoshop, Photoshop will compress the image, lowering down its resolution. With Illustrator it does not do that. With Illustrator it’s easier to make cleaner looking art. And heres what I did over the months of working on Illustrator.

Design was definitely not your ordinary art school. This class has definitely pushed me beyond my limits. I also learned so many things like color pallets such as monochromatic, complimentary and analogues. These color pallets really help me make better use with color. It really give me the opinion to use some of these stuff in some of my own creation in my own free time.

Story

To be honest, I was not impress with my narrative story for my English class. It was not bad, but on top of that it was not good either. It was really Hard for me to make a novel because I have never done such thing before. And compressing the words between 500 to 1000 was also another challenge. To be fare, I was happy that I did the narrative story. Now I know for now on, if I want to continue to become a story teller, I should try to make my stories have small conflict to them.

The story is about a young 16 year old boy who’s parents are going through a divorce, and that’s about it. The story It self does not tell you that straight away, which I though was a smart choose just so that It keeps the reader hooked. So here it is.

This is where I edited the story album (Pro Tools)

This is a group project that I did, and it was very fun to create. The goal of this project was to create part of the body of the creature. The twist was you don’t know what your partners are making. I did the middle.

T-SHirt

Artist Statement

I wanted to have a little fun with the T-shirt project, by adding a cat to the back of the shirt, but also having a meaning to the front of it as well. The reason why I’ve gone with a t-shirt for this project is so I can wear my creation everywhere. And as a matter of fact, it can come across as funny. But at the same time, it’s very meaningful as an artist. Yes, you are the boss of your own creation. Your stuff is your stuff. The biggest challenge that I faced when making this project was figuring out how to add shade to the cat, because the cat had a lot of fur everywhere. But once I figured out the solution, everything else is smooth sailing. I was really satisfied with how the cat had turned out. It looks really goofy which is what I wanted. It has a lot of form, thanks to the shades. If I were to be honest, this project did not push me that much, despite the fact that we had to use Illustrator instead of Photoshop.

I don’t have much to say about this project. The few words I have to say about this assignment is that I did put in a lot of work into this with the script and all. But this song to me is just too cringy for me to listen to. What I probably should have done differently is remaking the song escape the heat bonnie from Bonnie Tyler. But anyways here is the song

Narrative Creature project

Artist Statement

The main character from the story “The Silent Breeze” is a very smart, and educated person. Although he can be shy, and clumsy. He also can be physically scrawny. Thoughts are all of the characteristics of the creature.

Narr-Project

The Entire process of this creature took many months. First and foremost we had to create a narrative story. Each and every part of the hybrid of represents the main character’s personality. All of the traits have to come in 5 different animal species. A bird, mammal, reptile, insect, and sea creature  One being the Owl, representing the character’s intelligence. The giraffe, giving the creature that scrawny look. And the additional combined characteristics of the turtle’s shell.  Nerdy as a grasshopper. And he also can be shy as an octopus. Now I figured out the 5 creatures. All I had to do was to find inspiration photos from google. And then outline them in illustrator. Obesity, all of that is easier said and done. The creature took around 3 weeks to complete the creature itself. The background was no different. Though I had somewhat of a solid abstracted Idea of putting hallway locker’s within the ground of the tide pool. To be clear, that is not the place where the story took place. I thought it would be a clever idea to mix in the habitat that the creature would survive in, and where the story would take place. The Narrative story does not take place in school. The reason why I would add buried lockers to the piece is to visually illustrate the characters age, which would be around high school. The cloud was used for the linear perspective sense that was part of the instructions for this assignment. The clouds surprisingly took the most amount of time for this project. The reason why was because it was all fittiling with color, shade, and highlight to get that form and texture correctly. I am also trying very hard to balance out the identity of a cloud and not blend in too much. And also being part of the sky. The sky was easy to do. Though If I were to do anything differently. I would give the water a little more depth in perspective. I would also like to figure out how to add texture to objects in illustrator, because this application is still new to me.
