Food Label Project

My first project is a food label of a coffee brand. It was the first time I have contact with designing an food label. The coffee’s name, the ingredient, and the logon were all needed to think by myself. The essence of coffee, refreshing and re-energizing, was the foundation of my decisions. I have seen many people drink a cup of coffee every morning to wake up their day, therefore I came up with the name—G’ Morn, short for “good morning. ” As for the color scheme, I chose yellow and brown which are similar to coffee’s color. Additionally, yellow and brown are warm colors, and I expected they could remind people of a beautiful sunrise.

For the basic idea, I would combine the coffee cup with a clock. During the process, I used Illustrator to create the label. An overlooking coffee with a coaster and a spoon was first illustrated, then in the middle of the coffee, two clock needles were drawn. I placed the coffee’s name around the coaster as big as possible, so I can ensure it is obvious enough. After that, in order not to let the label look so empty on the top and the bottom, I created a dripping fluid on the top and made up a logon on the bottom.

For this project, the final production is 2D that there aren’t many layers or shadows to make the picture valid, but I was still satisfied with the color scheme and the whole arrangement. This food label design project was meaningful and impactful for me. It allowed me to first create a brand and design an ad by myself independently. Through the experience, I have earned the knowledge of the design industry and marketing.

Zenith Project

I would like to present my zenith project as the second featured project. For the zenith project, I worked with a partner to create fluid paintings. However, we thought that fluid painting was too simple, so we decide to draw on them digitally. The following are the paintings I have drawn digitally, you can find the other painting on my zenith project page.

Drawing digitally on the fluid painting is similar to draw on a canvas with a pattern. Using the colors that fit the color scheme of the background is one of the most important factors I considered during the creating process. I also need to consider about the object I create can integrate the fluid painting. During the progress, I have a deeper understanding of harmony, which is beneficial for my future pathway in art.

Reflection

Through my time at Freestyle Academy, my gain is great. I have not only earned the skills on Adobe applications but also have broken my barrier and explored new experiences. Freestyle really promoted my creativeness and allowed me to display it out. Besides, Freestyle was really a nice big family, I felt comfortable at Freestyle.
