Reflections

The past four months of Senior year at Freestyle, I have done more reflecting than I have the past four years at Los Altos. We’ve written our college essays, learned a variety of digital editing programs, and in animation specifically, have made our first 3D animations.

I value creativity and individuality more and more each day, fitting for the past “Who Am I?” unit, having been forced to figure out who I want to present myself as to the world.

After setting up an eight sided pie-like symmetry in Illustrator, I began drawing my mandala from the outside in, starting with the tigers. After the symmetry pieces were done, I was able to make the center piece, the tigers face, then move on to coloring, as seen above.

I really enjoyed the entire process of making the mandala, maybe everything but setting the symmetry up, and I really value knowing how to use Illustrator now. Drawing digitally is one of my favorite forms of art, so overall, this was lots of fun– and I got to use the Wacom tablets that I’ve seen professionals use.
