About Me

Hello! My name is AJ. I like Mexican and Japanese food. I also know some Spanish and Japanese. I’m currently working on developing a game with some of my friends. I’ve been animating on and off for about 4ish years now. I don’t like abstract art. I’ve played 3 different instruments in my life; flute, guitar, and trombone.

This is a placeholder for an image of me

Some of my core values are Loyalty, Empathy, Humor, and independence. Loyalty is one because if no one was loyal to each other, society would fall apart. Empathy is another because I think without empathy, people wouldn’t be able to understand each other or create relationships. I think Humor is just a good thing to have; it can bring people together and make some bad situations a little better. Lastly, I think independence is a very important thing to have; I think people should have the freedom to express themselves and not be controlled by others.

Some things I like to do outside of school are: marching band, art, archery, video games, and spending time with my family. I find marching bands to be really fun since I get to hang out with lots of friends and it feels like I’m part of a family. Competition nights always make me feel excited and competitive. Just the feeling of getting on the field and marching the show feels so cool. Moving on, when I’m doing art outside of school, I usually just do it for fun unless someone asks me to draw them a commission(my commissions are usually open). I mostly enjoy drawing anthropomorphic characters. I enjoy coming up with new characters and making stories for them. Next, when I have the time or feel like it, I go up into the mountains to Bowhunters unlimited to shoot arrows. A lot of the people that go up there are really nice. The range is made for everyone so when you go up there, you can see people with different experience levels ranging from beginner to professionals. When I’m not at marching band, drawing stuff, or at the archery range, I’m playing video games. The games I play most often are Rainworld and Minecraft. I usually like to play Minecraft with my friends; we usually create servers and build a lot of things like giant towns and castles. Rain world however is a single player game. It’s a 2d platformer with highly advanced creature AI. It’s set in an active ecosystem where you are 2ed from the bottom of the food chain. Rain world also has an advanced movement system with an 88 page fan-created guide. Most of the movement tech was found by the community. It’s a brutal game and because of this, most new players quit. However, if you stay determined, you will eventually figure out how the game works. It turns into a fun challenge once you learn the movement. Finally, when I’m not doing any of these things, I’m hanging out with my family. Together, we usually go out to downtown Mountain View or Santana Row to walk around. And on rare occasions, we all get together and play games like uno and jenga and watch some movies.

I expect myself to be able to create good stories and animations and expand my knowledge on technology. I want to be able to animate not only faster, but with high quality that would usually take a team of animators to do. I want to be able to create stories that stick with people and maybe even create a new fandom. I want to show people why hand drawn animation is amazing and why it should be brought back. When someone sees my art, or my characters, or hears my stories; I want them to know who I am. So ultimately, my goal at freestyle is to develop my skills and make a name for myself.

I value being a freestyle student because I get access to all this equipment that many others don’t have access to. I’m grateful for the opportunity to go freestyle. At freestyle, I get a chance to express myself and broaden my knowledge on technology and art. Not many people get the opportunity to go to a school like this. I value the fact that I’m here.
