In this photo, the goal was to show balance in a holiday tradition. I took this photo of a diya, which is a clay lamp with a candle inside. This year, Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, was on October 24th and my family and I lit diyas to celebrate. This has been a fun tradition for us to do every year and a way to stay connected to our culture.
The bright flame is balanced out by the darkness surrounding the diya.
