Frame within the frame
In this photo, we were challenged to frame our subject using only natural elements. I took this photo of an archway in a rose garden which naturally frames the surrounding rose bushes.

In this photo, we were challenged to create an interesting effect using props. I took this photo of a nail polish bottle reflection in a mirror. I like how mysterious this photo looks, with how dark it is and how the nail polish bottle is hazy and unrecognizable.
In this photo, we were challenged to use creatively staged depth of field. I took this close up photo of the stamen of a hibiscus to show a creative depth of field.
In this photo, we were challenged to change our viewpoint. Usually, we view freeways at the ground level from our cars, so instead I took this photo through a fence from up above to create a birds-eye view.
In this photo, we were challenged to use color grading to create an image that looks like a still from a movie. I took this photo of the ocean at Pigeon Point Lighthouse and edited the hue and saturation in Photoshop to enhance the colors.
In this photo, we were challenged to compose the picture using low angles. I took this photo of my friend standing up while I was lying on the ground. I like how she’s silhouetted against the blue sky and it almost looks like she’s flying.
In this photo, we were challenged to use the rule of thirds to show emotion. The rule of thirds is a photography technique where you place your subject in one of the thirds of the frame, instead of the instinctual center, to add more interest to the photo. I took Read more…
In this photo blog, we were challenged to fill the frame with color. I took this close up photo of a hydrangea bush because I really liked the shade of purple.
In this photo, we were challenged to show facial symmetry. I think it’s funny how it looks like Sofia’s hairstyle changes between the photos. To create this effect, I used Photoshop to reflect one half of the face over the original picture, and repeated with the other side.
In this photo, we were challenged to use geometry. I took this photo of a lamp because of the repeated circular shapes throughout the design. I also used the shade white balance to help give the photo a golden glow and balance out the gray-ish lighting coming from the windows.
