ProTools/Reason Music Score
This project challenged me to use the programs Pro Tools and Reason to record and edit music. I drew a lot of inspiration from the band Cigarettes After Sex, as their music’s tone is very appealing to me. I do not have very impressive skill in music, however, so this project was probably the most difficult one for me.
Special thanks to my classmate Cristian Pilling for helping me figure out how to properly use these audio programs in both recording and editing.
Multi-Layered Project (Narrative Light Box)
The Narrative Light Box Project, a part of the multi-layered senior project in digital media, challenged us to collaborate with others to produce multi-layered 2D digital art with Illustrator and then assembling the 2D art pieces into a 3D Art Project to create depth in your art. You will have a choice from the following projects as shown below.
Reflection
The inspiration for this multi-layered composition came from vapor-wave art pieces that are very popular in today’s media. They typically utilize neon blues and purples that contrast against darker scenes in art, and incorporate images of pop culture. Our inspiration can also be characterized as similar to modern pop-art with an internet digital art influence in addition to influence of outer space.
I valued how there were significant challenges in response to trying to make the project more complex, especially having to consider the element of gravity as a part of our multi-layered design. It was definitely hard to visualize it digitally before physically producing our composition, but the final cut-outs were still satisfying to look at. It was interesting to have to consider more than a few simple elements of design, which made the planning process more intriguing.
