The Museum Curation project was inspired by artworks featured in the SF MoMA. The artworks below were chosen in response to the reflective question of “Who Am I?” It was meant to further the impact of the Reflections theme across our classes, as each chosen image has an explanation as to why it relates to my self.

TOROIDAL COLONIES
Rick Guidice

This artwork represents the curiosity I possess as I constantly strive to learn new things. Albeit not as challenging as space travel, exploring new territory can feel a lot easier with familiar aspects along the way. I value the way the color is presented in this artwork, as curiosity is definitely something I associate with excitement and thrill.

IMAGEN DE YAGUL
Ana Manienta

In this artwork, there is a feeling of ethereal serenity. Peace and nature are two things I always strive to make time for in my busy life. Additionally, calmness is something that is vital in what I say, do, and feel. Without it, I can become easily distracted or irrational. Although this piece is meant to depict death and rebirth in an earthen place, I find it to represent the calm that goes along with such ideas much better. Regardless, I greatly value the dreamlike color and simplicity.

NIKE II
Carol Bove

This artwork appealed to me in how I could relate to the emotions instigated by its appearance. I sometimes feel suffocated and tied down, which is something portrayed by the sculptureā€™s form. I value the idea that I feel I can relate to– where sometimes things can feel overwhelming. Many things in my life can easily fall into the same, spiraling pattern displayed by this artwork.
