I learned a lot from English this year, especially because of how different it was for me (taking it at freestyle). Learning about worldbuilding in English class was new to me but I liked it a lot. I thought it was interesting to learn about story writing in English, since I was used to doing that in my film class. A big part of the project was connecting our worlds to real life issues/topics, which I also liked a lot, because it gave our stories a little more symbolism and meaning.
For my world building narrative, I decided to write about a semi-futuristic world, which had humanity divided by social and economic class, between different planets. I had a lot of fun making this world, and I had to think about what perspective I wanted this world to be viewed from. I ended up making my main character a gifted engineer from the upper class, who got betrayed and then ends up learning the dark secrets of their society. I connected this project to the shrinking middle class in the current day, and how corporations and large businesses are seperating us further.
