Humor

Intro

For our last ever freestyle project, we studied humor. To start the unit, we read Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. The book taught me a lot of new comedic techniques that I would further use for my project. Then we had to study two different comedians of our choice and compare and contrast their comedy styles. Lastly, we wrote an analysis on how we would use these comedic techniques for our production.

After this study, Xavier and I knew exactly what we were doing for our project. At first we wanted to do pranks on people in public but it didnt work out. So then I had the idea of making an absurd medicine commercial. Below is the script that we came up with for our commercial.

From this script, we began filming a cinematic masterpiece. During production we lost all our audio, so we had to do voice overs. Here is the video that we produced.

Reflection

Overall, I had a blast during this unit. I think what I enjoyed most was the creative freedom we had throughout the whole process. Working with Xavier helped a lot because we both had the same ideas, so it was easier to execute. I am so proud of our finished product and when the class watched it they enjoyed it too.
