For elements, I chose to go with fire, more specifically, fire from lit candles. Today was my dad’s 57th birthday, and because of my interests in baking, I was the one that made a birthday cake specifically for him. I had barely any knowledge on how to essentially frost it, as it was my first time, but there was something special about the fact I made him the cake. One of the fun things on birthdays is to blow out the candles, which I wanted to capture the lighter setting them up.
To me, the photo feels like a sort of beginning to a new age in life for my father, yet also the end of the year, as his birthday is on New Years Eve. Two special events on one day.
