Introduction
The music recording project required us to record an actual musician playing a song, and to mix the audio (“post-processing”). We had to learn how to use a professional music recording studio, and how to mix music in Pro Tools, a professional music program.
Shai Tsur

Shai Tsur was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He grew up in Austin, where he was exposed to the music scene there. Sadly, he was not able to see Blaze Foley play while he was still alive. When he’s not playing guitar, he’s Elai’s dad. He’s also Elai’s dad when he is playing guitar.

Artist Statement
“I grew up in Austin, Texas. When I was living their, I’d go see a lot of live music, so I’ve always had a lot of fondness towards Austin artists. Blaze Foley died tragically young, so sadly I was never able to see him while he was alive. I discovered his music, like a lot of people did, after he was gone. I’ve always liked Clay Pigeons. I think it’s got a hopeful vibe to it, so I wanted to make my own version.”
Elai’s Artist Statement
This project was a very unique challenge for me. I have never done anything with music recording or mixing before, and I don’t think I’m particularly musically inclined. Despite that, I still had a lot of fun learning how to use Freestyle’s music studio, and I think the final song turned out pretty well.
