I was inspired by fire for this photo challenge. I think the smoke from a burnt candle is beautiful and forms such cool shapes. The grey, soft smoke is so different from the burning orange, bright, sharp fire.

Rule of Odds
I took this photo in Thailand and I think it represents the rule of odds well. There are three (an odd number) of main objects in this shot: the tree, the side of a building, and the big temple in the middle. The tree and […]
Seasons
I went to a flower garden in early December and noticed how the color of these flowers matched the weather. Even though there isn’t much of a “winter” in California and it’s more of an extended fall, the leaves still turn orange and the weather […]
Gratitude
I’m grateful for my mom’s homemade food. She’s an amazing cook and I’m so lucky to be able to enjoy her food everyday. This is a photo of a squash soup with roasted chickpeas and parsley. I love the colors in the soup and thought […]
Rule of Thirds Emotion
This is a photo of my little sister dressed up as a fairy for Halloween. I used the rule of thirds to take a portait-like photo of her by having her stand more to the left and angle her face towards the left. The emotion […]
Color Without Color
I took this photo of a bird flying through the sky to represent color without color. When I think of birds or insects flying through the sky, a color and lively image always comes to my mind. So, even though this photo is in black […]
Who Inspires You
My mom inspires me. Instead of simply taking a portrait photo of her, I wanted to represent her through one of her ceramic pieces. This is one of my favorite pieces of hers because I love the face on the ceramic bowl, it kind of […]
Fill the Frame
The challenge was to take a photo of something and have the frame be filled with a single color. I chose green because it’s my current favorite color. I found a palm tree plant in my backyard that I thought would be perfect for this […]
Friends and Family
This photo tells the story of my mom. When I think of her, I think of art. She’s an artist in many different mediums; ceramics, sowing, painting, cooking, and more. I chose to photograph her art tools since art is such a big part of […]
My Habits
This photo shows a good habit of mine. When I’m at the beach or near any body of water, I feel the happiest and the most free. I would call it a habit because I always find myself at the beach, lake, or the coast. […]
