Self- Portrait

Since the category for this portrait is Storytelling, I wanted this photo to represent a tool I use to display my feelings or “tell a story”. Art, but more specifically doodling is a talent I use to let my loved ones know I am thinking about them, decorate my room, or pass time when I am bored. In this photo, I wanted to tell a story that emphasized how I handle the colder seasons in California. First, we have vibrant highlighters sprawled around a book with detailed colorful doodles. Secondly, beneath the book is a vintage chest with a dark brown color which matches the shirt I am wearing as well. Lastly, I think the chest goes well with the dim and muggy light coming through the window since it was a rainy day. Overall, I wanted this photo to achieve instilling a sense of comfort. Since it is a self-portrait, personally on cloudy and rainy days I like to curl up with my sketchbook and just doodle whatever comes out of my creativity. Also, to compensate for the fact that I can’t go outside.
