About Me

About Me

Hello! I’m Gordon Schmidt, a 17 year old senior at Los Altos High School. I am a competitive person who is always looking for ways to improve myself. I am a person who enjoys learning and being informed about things. I like to think things through and be open to all perspectives and ideas. Core values of mine are openness, skepticism, and kindness. I believe in being a skeptic but not a cynic. Being someone who questions others and thinks for oneself, but not blindly refusing to believe another idea or perspective. This goes hand in hand with being open and someone who likes hearing others’ ideas. Kindness is also an important part of me because I would never want to treat others in a way I wouldn’t want to be treated.

Outside of school I enjoy hanging out with friends, either playing video games, getting ice cream, or going on walks. Watching movies or TV shows, with or without friends, is also something I enjoy doing. I also love listening to music in my spare time. On top of that I like editing videos. I often edit videos for my dad, helping him polish up videos for his company. But I also edit videos for myself. On vacations I like to take videos of scenic landscapes or anything I find aesthetically pleasing and put them together in a montage format. Some of the videos are longer and slower and sometimes I make shorter ones to put onto TikTok.

This year what I expect from myself is to work as hard, or harder, than previous years. In my classes at Los Altos High I want to put a lot of effort into my AP classes and keep grades up. At Freestyle I want to put more effort into the classes there than I have in classes before, especially the film elective. As a first year senior I’m sure I’ll have a lot to catch up on and I expect myself to do the work necessary to get there. I’m hoping to create a lot of cool projects this year and makes some new friends.

Art Reflection

The purpose of this reflection was to analyze a piece of artwork that spoke to us, and explain why it had that impact. We were meant to explore the emotions the art work brings up and how we can relate that to a larger theme. We did a field trip to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where we chose a piece of art, writing in our journals immediate reactions and emotions. We then revised a few lines in class that encapsulated our reflection.
