Introduction

In English class, we read and analyzed Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughter House 5 which included many humorous and satirical techniques. At the end of the unit we were assigned this humor project in which we had to use our knowledge of humor techniques and create some sort of product using them. In the end, I enjoyed this unit and learning about how technical and purposeful humor can be. I also valued how open ended the project was and allowed me to have fun while working on it.

Pre-Production

The first step to deciding our project was to gather comedic influences. One of mine was the YouTube channel “MeatCanyon”. They make cartoon caricatures of online creators and types of media. The humor on their channel focuses on absurdity, satire, and spoofs. I found them useful in deciding that making a satire piece on the biggest YouTuber would be a good option.

Before beginning our project we had to create a proposal document for our teacher to review. My idea was to create Fake YouTube thumbnails and titles imitating the popular YouTuber MrBeast. I originally opted to go for three titles and thumbnails but ended up producing the best 2 ideas
