    Future

This photo is a production photo from the show I was a part of called Little Shop of Horrors. This production was a part of Upstage Theater, which is a teen-run theatre company. The actors, Aidan and Aeryn, are younger than me, and they are the future of Upstage and other community theatre productions in the Bay Area. Although I won’t be in the area to participate in these productions, I’m excited to come back and see how they grow as actors.

    Self-Portrait

I often find myself being described as someone who has a sense of humor, and walks around dressed awkwardly unironically. I’m also a theatre kid at heart. This self portrait was taken when I was testing out hairstyles for Little Shop of Horrors, a show that I was recently a part of. I love dressing up ridiculously, and poking fun at myself. Combined with that and the background for why I have the red wig, it sums up how other people would describe me very well.

    Food

When I traveled to France during Spring Break, on my last full day, I stopped by a wonderful restaurant while I was shopping down Rue de Rivoli. It was called La CoopĂ©rative, and it was one of the best meals I had during the entire trip. The pasta wasn’t your ordinary pasta with tomato sauce. It had mozzarella and parmesan, with a bit of pesto sauce. I also had it with a coffee milkshake, and I took note of the name of the restaurant for when I go back in the future.

    Using Props

In Cannes, France, there was this little souvenir shop where a fluffy dog was in a basket. At first, it was standing up, hands hanging out of the basket, and I thought that it was a very realistic doll. I only realized that it was truly alive when I saw that it started to move. It reminds me terrifyingly of a realistic prop. I believe that the basket adds an element that made the dog look like a doll, and made me doubt if it was alive.

    Modern Convienence

The one thing I could not live without is traveling. Being able to meet new people, discover new places, and learn the different cultures is an amazing experience and opportunity to learn more about the world around you. During the pandemic, I wasn’t able to travel much, and after two years, being able to re-visit one of my favorite countries and explore new places was an incredible experience.

    Current Events

Global warming has been a large issue, especially in recent years. As more time passes, we are reaching the point where the planet is slowly becoming an unlivable environment that is harmful to all organisms on Earth. When I am at school, I can see the cloudy sky from far away. (I didn’t mean to capture the bird, but it seems fitting that the blurry bird can represent how pollution is slowly killing all living beings, if I wanted to be poetic).

Creative Staged + Depth of Field

In my backyard, I have several different plants and flowers, some of which are Japanese, honoring my culture. As the flowers are in peak bloom during the spring, I wanted to take a photo that shows off my garden while creating a field of depth. I wanted to be able to focus on one area, while having a peek of another type of plant in the background.

    Deadly Sins

The seven deadly sins are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. While loneliness is not one of the sins, loneliness can quickly turn into envy and anger. In the photo I took, I depicted my friend Angie experiencing loneliness, as I believe that when people are lonely, it can lead to the path of several of the sins.

    Musical

I love driving around with my friends, because it’s a place where we can catch up, blast music, and roll down the windows. It’s a stress reliever, and a time to bond with my friends. Driving around with my friends is where I can let loose and connect with people, through our conversations and the music. There’s countless times where I’ve discovered new music and created conversation with people through new discoveries of Spotify playlists.
