    Viewpoint

In Broken Box, we are working on our production Up the Down Staircase. This photo shows me working on sound operation while observing when I have to go on stage. While I am the sound designer in Broken Box, I am doing sound design, sound board operation, and acting in this show. While I have acted on stage, and teched in the booth, I have never done both at the same time. It’s interesting to see both sides of the production simultaneously.

    Film Noir

Right after our first day of tech for Up the Down Staircase, everyone was heading home, when I got a shot of Nyla walking. The lighting was odd since it was 9 PM, there were barely any lights, and the only light available casted a yellow hue. I thought it was interesting to see how the final product seems to depict isolation when the photo is in black and white.

    Work

This is a photo of me and Jamie filming for Jamie and Chloe’s film project. I’m upside down in a trash can, being Chloe’s test dummy as a dead body. That day, we spent hours filming shots, evening having some people climb into the dumpster. It took a lot of teamwork to get every shot.

    Color Theory

I was walking back from school, when I saw a bright pink sunset. It was unlike any other sunset that I’ve seen before. It was amazing to see the stark contrast between the bright sky and the dark trees and houses. This photo is what started my appreciation for sunsets.

    Storms

I took this photo while I was at school, right after I finished a rehearsal of Mamma Mia! It was a beautiful, ethereal sunset, where the sky was filled with swirls of blue, purple, and pink. The colors are slightly off, but it’s still incredibly beautiful. There are no filters or editing done to the colors.

    The Elements

I wanted to get a photo of different colors, and I knew that the fall leaves would be a pretty contrast against the dark green. Gold and the right shade of dark green is a color combination that brings me so much joy, and something about those colors combined with nature brings me a sense of comfort.

    Rule of Odds

Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors, and I have read every single one of her books that she has published. When I needed three items for the rule of odds, I wanted to play around with a stack of books. I instantly knew that I had to use her books, and I picked some of the books with the lightest colors.

    Seasons

I found this tree that had berries and leaves of all different colors in front of a cleaners. I loved how it represents the changing seasons, the bits of green leftover from the summer, while the orange, reds, and yellows are showing the change into fall and winter. It brings me so much joy to see so many colors.

    Gratitude

This is my pride and joy, my potato collection. I do want to clarify that I have a potato keychain, however, it did not make it into the family photo, but I do still love it. I’m incredibly grateful for something as mundane as this, because I received some of these items from friends, who mean the world to me. The slippers were gifted from Cedric, and the bath mat is from Noor, two of my friends who I have known since 4th grade. The potato dressed as a cow is bought by myself, however, I got it when I first met my friend who I met from NYU New…

    Rule of Thirds Emotion

I wanted to capture a moment of exhilaration while creating a moment using the rule of thirds, so I had my friend stand right in the middle of the street to pose for me. While this road isn’t usually packed, there were a handful of cars that were driving past so it took a few tries to get the photo I wanted. I wanted my friend to be in the center, with the trees on each side balancing her out.
