Self-Portrait

For this photo, I chose to use one of the sketches I had recently finished to represent my self portrait. The reasoning behind this is creativity and art are one of the main components who make me who I am. Art is my way of expressing my thoughts and ideas when I can’t find the words. Next to the sketch however there is a little poem to represent my love for writing. In it, it says “Weep starving artist, For the agony of life, is the food of the mind”. I wrote this to remind myself during times of pain or anxiety, I am able to create something which I find beautiful out of it. That is also represented by the sketch as well. This head in the image is crying, but gold. Even pain can beautiful. There is also a piece of jewelry, with a compass engraved in it. This not only represents the immensely awful sense of direction I have inherited by my mom, but also shows that there are different directions to take in my life. So even if right now I am feeling lost or confused, I have choices of direction and there isn’t just one way to take my journey in life.
