World Building

This unit, our Digital Media and English projects were extremely connected. All our artworks in Digital Media directly reflected the story we created in English. We designed a multi-layer art display to give visual aid to our story. First we designed it on paper, then transferred the idea into Adobe Illustrator. When finished, we printed it out and assembled to create 3D art.

In my world building story, the main character is often silenced by her reality. I wanted to capture that feeling of being in the background so I made a multi-layer ring. The front layers show New York City skyline, featuring the Empire state. The next layers are speech bubbles because Rose has mind reading abilities, which she must learn to accept and live with. The last layer is the main character, Rose. She is crying and overwhelmed from having to live in this emotional confinement.
