Angles

24mm 1/1,600 f/3.2 ISO160

This is actually a tree! but with some creative angling, it looks like a view from someone standing in a field of grass. How neat! The sky is vibrant and a nice contrasting part of the shot.

Negative space

Here, the negative space is the light, the table, the empty chairs. Some might interpret this photo as a lonely meal, a sad occasion. To me, this is warm, solitary safety, a quiet moment of good food an reflection. There is space to breathe and exist.

Balance in Holiday Traditions

50mm 1/125 f1.8 ISO1000

For this assignment, I just though about the different holiday traditions my family has. We love setting up our tree, it tends to be a family activity. One of my brother’s favorite ornaments is this Basketball. What’s something you can do with a basketball? Balance it! This is a purposefully literal interpretation of the assignment’s title, but I think that makes it all the funnier.

Leading lines

The lines of the bench truly captured my attention. They lead a line to nowhere, which is a fairly compelling existential premise considering that nearly everyone has even many school lunches on these tables. I just thought it was interesting.
