Hey guy, I’m Jerard. I attended Freestyle academy for my senior year in the Film elective. I joined because I am passionate about video editing and story telling, and boy did I learn a lot! I value honesty, respect, authenticity, and efficiency.
Outside of school I like to golf, make TikTok videos, and go for walks.
In my Junior year at MVHS, I didn’t know what Freestyle really was. I thought it was for really “artsy” kids and that it wouldn’t be a good fit for me. When I did join in my Senior year, it was all because my good friend Michael Kurgas was in it and told me more about the program.
On my first day in Film, Mr. T asked us to introduce ourselves to the class. I said that I was excited to “take a break from MVHS” and enjoy the creative side of MVLA. Mr. T. laughed and told me to get ready for what the year had in store. Throughout the next 9 months I learned much more about life than I did about Film. I learned how to work hard, complain less, communicate effectively with others, and persevere. I also learned many valuable technical skills related to filmmaking.

Here’s some personal stationery I made in Digital Media.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:
"Choose a major you love and you'll never work a day in your life because that field probably isn't hiring" - Unknown
"Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans" - John Lennon
"There are only two tragedies. One Is not getting what you want, and the other is getting what you want" - Oscar Wilde
"Let go or be dragged" - Zen Proverb
Me with the greatest of all time.
