Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

In Digital Media, we first combined images together to make funny and surreal composited images.

Here’s a funny composited image of me posing on the first day of school photoshopped over a mugshot background.

I put together 3 silly photos of me posing in my room. You can see a tiny me on the right side!

Then we switched to making a surreal composition after we had practiced with the funny images. We hadn’t nailed down an idea for worldbuilding yet so I made up an image about a possible dystopian story set in the future

Heres the artist statement for the piece: “In this piece, I wanted to convey a dramatic sense of hopelessness that I feel this generation is overwhelmed with. Dire world conditions, pressures of social media, and lack of motivation prevail in modern society. I’m proud of this piece because I applied myself in learning new photoshop techniques such as the “Warp” feature to fit text and images to a perspective. I was lucky enough to find good images that worked well together and recreate the vision I had for this piece in my head.

Here’s a little behind the scenes look of all the layers in photoshop

After that, we made 3d virtual and physical art that relates to our world building projects in English.

I worked with EliL who was also in my English world building group. First, we drew sketches for our design. We went with Eli’s sketch which looked like this. After this, we both traced the sketch digitally and made some adjustments to be used for our 3d cutout lightbox. Then we lazer cut each layer and glued them together with foam in between to create our lightbox which we then added lights to.

Here’s a timelapse video of the finished build!

Title: Into Emberfell

I worked with EliL for this project and it turned out wonderful! He drew the mushroom, dragon, and people. I drew the background. Once we combined it we made some adjustments to create the final piece.

I learned a lot about Illustrator, a program which I had previously avoided because it seemed too difficult. I’m very proud of this project because It seemed out of my skill range at first. but turned out awesome!

I think I would have added more detail to the waterfall and possibly added silhouettes of more characters on the top of the mountain if I could go back and update this piece.

After we finished building, I colored the Illustrator file to give it more life and detail. Here’s a 3d video showcasing it with different camera angles and lighting.

Thanks for watching 🙂
