Rule of Thirds Motion

1/1000 f/7.1 ISO 2500

This assignment was to take a photo that followed the Rule of Thirds, simultaneously displaying motion. The motion occurs in the center third of this paragraph, which captures my model climbing a lifeguard tower. I have my other model in the left third to perpetuate the story; “Is she waiting to climb up? Is she too scared to?” To align with the Rule of Thirds requirement, I favored a more symmetrical look, as I feel a photo that’s focus is the middle provides a more cinematic look.

Mood

1/1000 f/7.1 ISO 2500

This assignment was to take a photograph that captured my current “mood.” At present, I feel that there’s a lot to be discovered (it being the beginning of the school year). To me, this picture represents that feeling of preparing for the uncertain; not knowing what’s to come, but embracing it. This picture was taken at Natural Bridges Beach, with the intention of relaying a sense of possibility and curiosity.

Self-Portrait

1/4000 f/8 ISO 12800

For my self-portrait, I chose to relay my fascination with the broken, in which I feel there’s so much to be explored and found beauty in. To capture that, I staged my model listening to, and entranced by, a broken record. I added some dreamy elements to the photograph (ex: pearls, slip dress, the location) to add to the skewed reality it aims to create.
