Tell a Lie

The camera has an excellent way of capturing emotion, but it can also fake emotion. I chose to portray a lie that the camera can tell by exaggerating the emotion of sadness. In filmmaking, fake tears are often used to depict sadness. I chose to mimic that through photography.

Angles

Rather than choosing to take a picture at eye-level with the subject, I decided to complete the “Angles” prompt by shooting from above. I found that this made for a more attentive, curious subject. It makes the camera feel more present.

Stranger

Sometimes meeting someone new can feel completely strange. Introducing yourself to a stranger isn’t so different from introducing yourself to an entirely different species – you need to learn how best to interact and how best not to.
