My future will take me to New York. I took this picture over the summer, the last time I was there. In this picture, I was surrounded by filmmakers, exactly as I will be starting next fall as a film major at New York University. I also appreciate how this picture captures the New York City skyline, a visual of possibility and opportunity.
I felt that my self-portrait wouldn’t be complete without include my friends. Throughout my senior year, I’ve discovered how much of my identity that they make up. It is the things we have gone through together and the way we have shaped each other that makes us who we are. I’m about to graduate, and I am graduating with the realization that growing up is not an individual process. Growing up means growing together; you cannot grow without learning from the people you surround yourself with.
