For this assignment we were supposed to used the rule of thirds in order to invoke an emotion. This was during one of the final performances of the show “Our Town” At MVHS theatre, in this scene the main character is observing her 8th birthday. Here, she has left the position which she was in during the scene, leaving an empty chair. Regardless of the empty chair though, the paents still live through the experience as before, looking at their child-which isn’t there- still with love. I took the photo like this, as the most left thirds are almost completely empty, with a large space meant for someone, with everything pointing at the direction of the empty space. i thought the emotion that was expressed to me was simply sadness, the point of the scene is for the main character to regret witnessing the past again, going through that grief, which i believe this expressed effectively.
