My original idea for this prompt, which I joked to my friends about, was to take an inspirational photo of dirt. I thought that it would represent the element of Earth in a lighthearted and funny manner. However, during my photo taking session, I found that dirt didn’t look nearly that interesting by itself unless there was foliage and plant life sprouting from it. This is why I chose to make the subject of the photo this plant against a background of dirt and cement, to demonstrate how the element of Earth gives way to life, and how the soil would feel incomplete without the organisms there to enrich it.
