The humor project is a project in which we as freestyle students get to show off the humor skills that we have and that we learned through our humor unit in English. This project was a reflection of my humor and it allowed me to show it to my whole class. With this project, I also got to experience the humor of my classmates and see their projects as well. For my project, I created a spin-off on the show Hell’s Kitchen in which I pose as a judge on the show and my brother the contestant. I showed all the drama and absurd humor that happens in Hell’s Kitchen in my video.

After the humorist analysis, I was still trying to figure out what to do. I decided between doing a stand-up act or a comedy skit. Eventually, I did the comedy skit because I was more passionate about that idea, and was an easier way to show my humor. During the humorist study, I also learned much more about how comedy is made and the different types of comedies that exist. Humor is a big part of my life so I really enjoyed learning more about it and being able to make it.

After I finished my research it was time to create a script. In my script, I tried to use as many humor techniques as possible that I learned. I also tried to use some of my filmmaking skills in order to make the video look better but also funnier. Overall, the video turned out pretty good and I think many of my classmates laughed at it which was the goal of the project.

Reflection

Overall, I am proud of the project I made. I think the video served its purpose and made others laugh. If I was to redo this project I would probably spend more time creating the video and getting different types of shots. I would also get a bigger cast because different personalities would add different humor to the project. However, I think i did a good job with the resources and the cast that was available to me.
