Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

I created my Multi-Layered Art Project because of my English Worldbuioling assignment. It was all about an ice cream shop called squirrel scoops, which is being attacked by shark industries, the town-controlling corporation. The squirrel in the middle is supposed to represent the ice cream shop while the jaws represent the shark industries trying to buy squirrel scoops. In my 3D art, I tried to encapsulate all the elements like the greedy eyes, and the small ice cream shop, while making it look 3D and interesting.

Layered Art Assembly

I worked on this project with my friend Jack. We created this piece in Adobe Illustrator by using different layers so we can laser cut them individually and get a 3D feeling. It was very challenging trying to imagine something 2D in 3D but with much trial and error we created this art piece and made it into reality.

After we were done with the Assembly our next set was to create a 3D video showing off our project. We created this 3D video in After Effects using all the skills we have learned throughout the year. Our goal was to use lighting and camera movement to create a 3D feel to our video which was just our layers from Illustrator stacked together.

Digital Layered Assembly

Throughout this whole project, I have learned and imported greatly my After Effects and Illustrator skills. My biggest challenge in this whole project was using this new software and learning through it. However, that is also my greatest achievement with my final creation which I am overall very satisfied with how it looks.

When I was creating my 3D Digital Art, I tried to encapsulate the whole of my project. I started with the jaws and teeth coming toward the viewer because it is supposed to symbolize being eaten by a shark. That’s what is happening to the squirrel, so the camera moves in the mouth and around the squirrel and the ice cream shop. I also tried to use lighting by making the squirrel dark when the camera first comes to it, to the squirrel being more bright.
