Podcaster Bio

My name is Leanna Chun, I am a senior at Mountain View High School, and I am a student studying at Freestyle Academy. I have always been interested in art and graphic design, so I decided to join Freestyle to learn new skills and find other people who have the same passion as me. Outside of school, I like to draw, hang out with friends, and volunteer for my community.

My name is Alayna. As I am writing this, I am a senior at Mountain View High School and Freestyle Academy. Since elementary school, I have been an artist who has dived into multiple types of creative arts including drawing, painting, clay making, crocheting, cardboard cutting, and more. I focus to turn my hobby into a career, as I am majoring in fine arts and graphic design for college. Outside of doing art, I also enjoy spending time with my friends and really enjoy partaking in other arts outside of traditional crafts like playing musical instruments and video editing.

I’m Quinn, a senior attending Freestyle Academy. I’m looking to major in digital art during college and love storyboarding and animation. I listen to podcasts while I draw, walk, or do chores because they allow me to stay concentrated on my task while also serving as great entertainment and inspiration.

Introduction

Podcasts are a digital communication medium anyone can publish on various platforms like Youtube or Spotify, as long as you have an idea and a microphone. A podcast can provide a powerful and immersive experience for the listener, so using our skills across English and Digital Media, we were challenged to create a conversational or storytelling podcast on a topic that we were interested in. My podcast partners, Quinn Anderson and Alayna Lee, and I decided to do a podcast on dreams. We chose this topic because we were all curious about the science behind why dreams occur, as it was simply an intriguing topic we didn’t previously know much about. Both of my partners frequently remember their dreams clearly, whereas I don’t, so we thought it would be interesting to learn a little more about this strange phenomenon.

Reflection

The podcast project was a great opportunity to discuss your interests or curiosities in a topic of your own choice. Overall it was a pleasurable experience, especially since I had never done anything similar in my other classes before. I learned a lot more about the science of dreaming, and the entire process was not as challenging and intimidating as I initially thought. One tip for any first-time podcasters would be to check the audio before recording, as it is difficult to see if everything is working properly once you start talking.
