Lip Sync Animation

For this project, we were allowed to choose any song or audio to do a Lip Sync Animation to. I decided on Dream Night by Lily Pichu, because it’s one of the few songs with lyrics that I like, that’s also not copyrighted! I ended up making this animation over 50 seconds long, which was way longer than it had to be, but I really wanted to animate the entire chorus. Overall, I like how it turned out, even thought it was very time consuming and it almost felt like I was never going to finish it.

After Effects Inferface

Splatoon Stop Motion Animation

One of my favorite project I did was in Junior year, which was the Conceptual Stop-Motion Animation I did in Animation 1. Personally, I like drawing animations rather than stop motion, so for this project, so I combined both into this project. The app that we used called Stop Motion Studio has a feature called onion skin, which allows you to see the previous frame on top of the current one, and I heavily relied on it for this project. This was definitely one of the most time consuming projects I have ever done, but I am very proud of how it turned out. Below my finished product you will find a time lapse of me actually completing this project.

Group Narrative Animation

The Narrative Animation was a collaborative project, where we were challenged to create a unique story, design characters, draw backgrounds, to create a 30 second long animation. My group and I struggled to come up with ideas for our story, but we eventually settled on a bittersweet plot, where a character is overcome with nostalgia while remembering a friend they had who they slowly drifted apart from over time.

Stacked Wood Art

For this project, students had the option of creating a multi-layered project out of either wood, paper. Students drew their pieces in Adobe Illustrator, and had them cut out onto wood, or paper to create stacked wood art, 3D ring art, or a light box scene.

I paired up with my friend Alayna, and we decided to do a stacked wood art together. The reason that we wanted to do a stacked wood art is because we wanted to create separate pieces that go together, and draw something in a style both of us enjoy. Both of us like drawing in an anime style, and with inspiration from a few of our favorite online artists, we designed a yin and yang style piece. Similar to some of the examples we saw in class, we wanted our projects to go together, but include distinctive aspects of our art on our separate parts. We are approaching this project similarly to how we would even if this wasn’t for a class, so for me it feels more like a personal project I’m doing with a friend, rather than an assignment.

3D Sculpting: Game Weapon

Below is a weapon model I created Maya, ZBrush, and Adobe Substance Painter. I was inspired by the Kirby series, specifically the Ultra Sword, so I decided to create something similar with a slight twist. I tweaked the colors slightly and added more details on the front and the side. Below is the final render of the model in Substance Painter.

Zenith

The second project I am choosing for my showcase is my Zenith project. The Zenith project gives seniors the opportunity to choose and create their own final project. The word “zenith” means: the time at which something is the most powerful or successful, so given that our final project for Freestyle is called the Zenith, seniors are expected to put in their best effort to create something unique and passionate about.

I had a difficult time choosing what to focus on for my Zenith project since I could almost do whatever I wanted to. I eventually chose to do an animatic/animated music video to one of my favorite songs “ただ声一つ”, which translates to “Just One Voice.” This project was a challenge for me because I didn’t have much time to do 2d animation, since I would be drawing all the frames by hand. Although I had to shorten my project, change animated scenes to still frames, and rush at the last minute, I definitely think this is one of my best works here at Freestyle.
