Reflection

I know that I can look back to this in the future, and not only see how much I’ve improved but to also showcase how special it was to be able to create something like this. I hope that I can help spread hope and excitement for future students through her story, and to show that even though learning can be a hard challenge, you should never give up, and that there’s always something or someone there for you.I am so grateful to have been able to work with Junko Aoki on this project.

Throughout my time at Freestyle Academy, I’ve seen a lot of growth in my skill of self direction. While managing many goals along the way with demanding finals, AP tests, and a major dance show, I’ve been able to learn how to set objectives, plan efficiently, and independently by managing my time well. 

I found a lot of good friends and I found a way to be creative. I used to always think I sucked at art and being creative because I didn’t know how to draw. I still don’t. But I realized that I don’t need to be the best artist to get my message across and have fun in the process of expressing myself and my ideas. I feel like I was just happy to be at Freestyle. I never dreaded any of the classes and I feel like I learned so much stuff that I would have never had the opportunity to. I don’t even think I have a favorite class because I loved them all. I got so many useful skills from these classes and I felt like I’ve grown so much thanks to it. The community is truly amazing. I feel like we’re just a bunch of nerds having fun and making cool projects.
