Research Paper
In English, we wrote a paper on a political topic, and I chose to write about disabilities since it was something that interested me. Although it didn’t end up being incorporated into my world-building project, I’m really glad I explored this topic because it broadened my understanding and gave me a new perspective. Surreal Composition Project

Artist Statement
My project explores a society where disabilities define one’s standing within the social hierarchy. Through this narrative, I aimed to emphasize that disabilities are not choices but circumstances dictated by factors beyond the individual’s control—whether they are encoded in their DNA, acquired through accidents, or developed over time. I used Adobe Photoshop for the first time, learning skills such as masking and color correction. One of the significant challenges I faced was managing the edges of the images and ensuring they blended between different elements. I am most proud of learning the foundational skills in Photoshop, a tool I have wanted to learn for a while. Overall, I believe my end product isn’t amazing as I had difficulty staying on my theme, but I am excited about what other ideas I can come up with in the future and experiment in Photoshop with.
World Building
Part of our assignment was actually to present our world in a pitch presentation! You can watch below to see what we created.
Ultimately, this project ended up being just as fun as I hoped it would be, and I’m really glad it was part of the curriculum this year. I loved being able collaborate with my peers to create a story that we were all engaged in. Special thanks to Kajsa and Ynez for leading withideas!
