Funny Image Compositions
We started learning how to use Adobe Photoshop, focusing on blending images together using the selection tool, layering, and applying filters. To practice, we created funny image compositions to practice.

Creating funny images was challenging because I don’t think I have a great sense of humor. I just went with ideas that seemed somewhat funny and weren’t too difficult since I’m not very confident in Adobe Photoshop. However, this project helped me learn a lot of new skills, and I’m glad I took the opportunity to experiment with it.
Motion Graphics
We began exploring Adobe After Effects to create a motion graphics video, learning how to bring simple shapes and lines to life through animation. This involved working with compositions, experimenting with various animation techniques, and syncing visuals with audio to enhance the overall effect. While starting out with basic elements, we quickly realized how these tools could be used to build dynamic animations.

At first, I didn’t like After Effects—I found the interface overwhelming, and there were way too many buttons. However, the more I used it, the more it grew on me. Over time, I began to appreciate the endless possibilities for animation, and while it’s still a bit confusing, I’ve come to enjoy experimenting with different effects and techniques.
Multi-Layered Art Project
The multilayer art project focused on transforming a 2D object into something that appears 3D. I collaborated with my friend Ynez—she handled the sketches while I worked on the Illustrator files, as those were our respective strengths. Our artwork was inspired by our Angel Hunting story, featuring a table set with a plate for each of our characters and a pair of chopped-off angel wings at the center, creating a striking and eerie visual.

Artist Statement “The Dinner Table”
We connected our wood art to our world-building by depicting the angel hunters gathered at a table, eating angel meat. We designed a bird’s eye view of the table, showcasing five plates, one for each hunter. Transforming our 2D art into 3D was both time consuming and confusing, especially since the layers in Illustrator became complex. We ran into issues with duplicate lines, which I had to manually delete one by one, taking up a good amount of time.
Animating the video using 3D spaces in After Effects was surprisingly easy since I’m already familiar with moving the camera in Maya. However, I still prefer Maya’s camera controls because they’re easier to manage. Overall, I’m incredibly happy with how this project turned out! My teammate and I worked really well together, and we were able to create something fantastic.
